Are there any exceptions to the rule?
In our game, there is an object which is an alternative to death, and there are cases where this object may or may not be beneficial for the player.
The player will normally have a chance to activate this object (it's a bit like opening a shop) and will then be given a choice between 2 different activities. If they pick the first activity, they'll do that activity.
If they pick the second activity, they'll do that instead, and then the first activity will be unavailable to them until the next game.
Basically, it's a kind of shop.
The question is, are there any circumstances where this object should be beneficial, and then there should be a way to do the first activity in return? In other words, I don't want this object to only be good for the second activity.

As a general rule, and there are certainly exceptions to this, when a player receives an active ability (in any game, board, or online) they should be able to complete the task, and receive a reward.
When the player does the task, and you don't want to give a reward, they may have to spend time building the time.
That can be in the form of additional time spent completing the task, or crafting 0b46394aab
